When is the best time to lay sod?

The warm months, when grass is actively growing, give roots the fastest start. Sod can go in during the cooler months, but it roots slower and needs closer attention to water. We tell you what to expect for your install date.

How do I water new sod?

Frequent, light watering until the roots grab the soil, then taper to deeper, less frequent watering. You get a written schedule on install day. Many Florida counties and utilities allow extra watering for new sod for a limited period, so check your county's rules before you start.

Which grass should I choose?

St. Augustine handles heat and some shade and is the most common Central Florida lawn. Zoysia is denser and stands up to foot traffic. Bahia is lower-maintenance and drought-tolerant but coarser. We match it to your sun, your use and how much care you want to put in.

Why did my old lawn die?

The usual causes here are chinch bugs, gray leaf spot, take-all root rot, poor prep under the old sod, or too much or too little water. We look at what happened before we lay new turf. That way the same problem doesn't kill the new lawn.
